Dr. Guozhong Wu, Tsinghua University
His professional interests include (i) remediation of contaminated soil: fate and transport of chemicals in the soil environment, sustainable remediation technology, and interfacial chemistry in the porous soil medium; and (ii) gas hydrate applications: energy recovery from natural gas hydrate sediments, heterogeneous nucleation modelling for gas hydrate, kinetic intensification for gas storage in gas hydrates, and hydrate inhibition in the multi-phase flow system. I’m leading an energy and environmental technology group in Tsinghua University comprising 2 postdocs, 3 PhD students and 4 Master students conducting the state-of-the-art researches on the above fields with successful procurement of ¥1.88 million peer-reviewed grants as Principal Investigator. I’ve been also participating in other research projects as Core Member with personal allocation of more than ¥14 million funds from national and Shenzhen city government. These works resulted in more than 40 academic articles published in the international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters with contributions to soil remediation and gas hydrate science and engineering (28 articles as first/corresponding author). I also contribute to the academic publications as invited reviewers for more than 10 journals such as Fuel, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemosphere, Science of Total Environment, Analytical Chemistry and Journal of Physical Chemistry. The 5 years’ PhD training in Tianjin University and Cranfield University, the 8 years’ working experience in Tsinghua University, and the in-depth involvement in a dozen programs offered me skills and experience in building up an international research network with the academic and industrial communities in interdisciplinary subjects.

Prof. Laura Bulgariu, Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi
Dr Laura Bulgariu is Prof. at Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection “Cristofor Simionescu”, Technical University Gheorghe Asachi of Iasi since from 2014. In the same year she obtained the habilitation in Environmental engineering. Her research area include theoretical and experimental aspects related to the removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous media, using methods with low impact on the environment (“environmental-friendly methods”). The obtained results have been concretized in the publication of over 200 papers, books and book chapters. She currently holds research grants from the Romanian National Authority for Scientific Research and various private companies. She is a laureate of the Romanian Academy in the geosciences domain.
